The first WGP of Snooker was held as a non-ranking event in March of 2015 in Wales. However, the first ranked tournament was held in 2016. Of course, the game is very English so the competitor list is filled almost entirely with players from the UK.  Other countries include Australia, Cyprus, China, and others. The top 32 players of the past year are qualified for the event.

Since the tournament is held in England, prize money is awarded in British Pounds with the winner receiving £100,000. Second place is £40,000, and third place is £20,000. Let’s take a look at this year’s round 1 matchups and the countries they are from. A full schedule of the event can be found here.

As we mentioned, you can find this tournament exclusively on ITV4 or ITV Hub. Unfortunately, that station is geo-restricted. That means you are only allowed to watch it in the UK. By using a VPN, you can create a secure connection to a server located there. When you do, the website will grant you access.
