The Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show is the second oldest continuously held sporting event in the US. Dating back to May 8th, 1877, this great show was originally started to display gun dogs, pointers, and terriers. It was held by a group of hunters that regularly met at the Westminster Hotel in Manhattan. The show predates the founding of the American Kennel Club in 1884.
