One of the most prestigious tournaments after the grand slam events, is the Canadian Open. Men have played in the tournament since 1881, and women since 1892. The Canadian Masters is the third oldest tennis tournament in the world, and is a hard court surface. Because the men’s and women’s events at the same time but in different cities, the tournament is unusual.

We will likely see a very solid performance from the number 1 men’s seed, Novak Djokovic. Whether you love him or hate him, you can’t deny his athletic ability. Djokovic is no stranger to the Rogers Cup, having won the tournament three times. He is also on his way to becoming one of the greatest, if not the greatest tennis player in history. When compared to other male tennis players, he still has plenty of time left in his career to break records. Since it’s normal for tennis players to play for around 20 years, Djokovic should be able to reach that goal with time to spare. It is fun to watch him play, because he is so good.

For the women’s tournament, all eyes will be on Serena Williams. Unfortunately, Serena has not had an easy time winning this tournament since 2013. Whenever she plays in a tournament however, it is sure to be exciting. Serena demonstrates her talent very well, leaving no question why she is the number 1 women’s player in the world.

There is speculation that Serena Williams will retire at the end of the 2016 tennis season. If she does, that would end an impressive professional career that has spanned more than two decades. To be fair though, her retirement was speculated about in 2010, so it is hard to know when that will happen.

With the Olympics coming up soon, you have to wonder if she will win the gold medal for the United States, and retire on top. While it would be great to see Serena Williams end her career on a high note, fans would be saddened at the loss of possibly the best women’s tennis player in history.

As you can see, it is a great time to be a tennis fan. No matter whether you like to watch male, female or both sexes play, the quality will be very high caliber. The Canadian Open will give you the opportunity to watch Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic battle for the title of best male player in history. It will also give you a chance to see Serena Williams play, whether she dominates the tournament or not. Even if she does not win, you can bet you will see maximum effort from her.

Sadly, coverage for the Rogers Cup is pretty limited. If you live in Canada, you should have no problem seeing the men’s or women’s tournament. If you are not in Canada, your options lessen by quite a bit. At this time, it is difficult to find information on other broadcast partners that might be carrying the Rogers Cup. However, you could watch it by going to the CBC website and streaming it from there. That is why we suggest using a VPN. Otherwise, you will run into geographic restrictions. Using a VPN will help you get around that problem.
