Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege is a very popular shooter in the series. It is available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Rainbow Six Siege is extremely competitive and the newest season is starting June 7, 2018. With the new competition getting underway more people are likely to play. Because of this more instances of lag and slow connections can occur. To help fix this problem I recommend a VPN. A VPN allows you to change your IP address to another IP in the location of your choosing. If you get close to the server you play on then you can decrease lag and improve connectivity. Since it is not your IP, a VPN also protects a user from DDoS attacks. A VPN will help a person get past firewalls at work or school and geographical restrictions blocking the game. Lets take a look at the best VPNs for Rainbow Six.
Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege is a very complex and competitive shooter. It has many game modes. Situations is an offline practice mode. Casual is an online mode where anyone can play. The games are 5v5 and best of five. In Casual there are three different types of games that are playable. Bomb, which is my personal favorite, puts teams against one another. The attackers can win by eliminating the other team or by planting and protecting the defuser in the objective. The defenders win by eliminating the other team, preventing the other team from planting, or breaking the defuser. Hostage is similar, but the attackers are trying to take the hostage away from the defenders. The way to win is either by killing the other team or fulfilling the team requirement of stealing or protecting the hostage. Don’t kill the hostage or it will result in an instant loss of the round for your team. The last game mode is Secure Area. The attackers are trying to steal the objective by standing in it, while the defenders are trying to protect it. The game can be won by killing the other team or by capturing/protecting the objective. Custom matches are also available, but you must be level 5 to participate in them. They can be more personalized and don’t have some of the restrictions that are found in the other modes.
The other main mode is Ranked. This is reserved to anyone level 20 and higher. It is also extremely competitive with a high learning curve. People playing this are typically more experienced and know the game extremely well. It shares the same game modes as Casual, but it also comes with other special rules. The team must win by two rounds and game will continue indefinitely until the stalemate is broken. The minimum number of rounds needed to win is 4. It also has less maps available compared to Casual along with less time available for each round. Rainbow Six Siege has a ranking system. It goes in the order of Copper, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Diamond.
Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege has many operators to play as. The game currently has 41 operators with unique abilities and playing styles to account for. There are 20 defenders, 20 attackers, and one operator that can be played on both. The Recruit is the only operator that can be played by multiple people at the same time. Each operator is customizable through different skins, weapons, and other accessories. They can be unlocked using Renown, but they can also be purchased.
I would once again like to recommend a VPN for Rainbow Six. A VPN allows you to change your IP to another in the server locations provided. If you select one close to where the game server is then you can potentially improve lag and connection speeds. Elite gamers will also be given the benefit of protection from DDoS attacks. A VPN will also help you get past any geographical restrictions or firewalls keeping your from playing the game at school or work.

As you can see in the table above, ExpressVPN manages a very large VPN network. Beyond the USA, the ExpressVPN network boasts hundreds of servers in key locations to help protect their user’s privacy. You can use their network to protect your privacy, unblock censorship, and watch your favorite teams from anywhere.
The ExpressVPN app allows you to select a server location down to the city, but you can not choose a specific server. Instead, the client will select a server in your chosen location. You also need to know that some cities are not shown on the recommended tab inside the client. To locate a specific one, you will want to select the “All” tab, open North America, and then open the United States. At this point, you can select a USA server location. Once again, we tested servers in NYC, Chicago, and LA. As you can see ExpressVPN performed quite well.
While ExpressVPN is sold at a higher price point than the other services in our list, the value is high given the size of their network and service features. You can connect a computer, handheld device, router, and game console (SmartDNS) with a single VPN account for just $6.67 a month with a 30-day money back guarantee.
NordVPN is based in Panama which some users prefer to using a VPN company that’s actually headquartered in the United States. You will find that NordVPN has a strong presence in the US with servers located throughout the country. Members have full access to their network in the USA and beyond for a very good price.

CyberGhost offers a nice mix of server locations, strong encryption, and the ability to unblock popular streaming services like Netflix, YouTube Red, and Amazon Prime. Some of the channels even let you unblock geo-restrictions for multiple regions. For example, you can access Amazon Prime video content in the US, Germany, or others. The Windows client also gives you the option to surf anonymously, protect Wi-Fi, torrent anonymously, unblock basic websites (Google, Facebook Instagram, etc.), and choose a server.
Once again we connected to VPN servers located in New York City, Chicago, and Los Angeles to test the CyberGhost network. As you can see below the performance was fast across all 3 cities. This is one of the reasons we recommend the VPN service for a wide range of purposes.
The CyberGhost VPN client is one of our favorites. It is very easy to use and includes a number of advanced features to help protect your online privacy. They have a development team in Germany that is continually adding features to the client and mobile apps. You can sign up for full access to the CyberGhost network from just $2.75 a month during their current promotion.
The USA is home to many of the top VPN services, and that includes IPVanish. We know from personal experience that IPVanish will work quite well no matter what region of the country you are in. Their servers are fast and the VPN service has more server locations in the United States than many VPN providers. That is why we chose IPVanish as our one of our top choices for gaming.
|60||89||1,000||OpenVPN, PPTP, L2TP, IKEv2||$7.50||$58.49||7 day|
Along with a large footprint in the USA, IPVanish hosts servers in every continent other than Antarctica. The network has consistently been the fastest VPN in North America and Europe in our speed tests. You will find multiple server locations in countries like the US and UK. You can select a location or even get more specific by selecting an individual server.
IPVanish hosts multiple servers in several American locations and you can choose to connect to any of them. We suggest selecting one that starts with “a” in the server name. For example lax-a01.ipvanish.com for Los Angeles and nyc-a01.ipvanish.com for New York. In most cases, you will find the “a” servers to be the fastest. We tested IPVanish servers in New York, Chicago, and Los Angels and found the speeds to be very fast in each city.
When it comes to value, IPVanish is hard to beat. They offer unlimited access to their VPN network and custom software for Windows, Mac, iOS, Android, Amazon Firestick and more for $7.50 a month or $58.49 a year. That works out to just $4.87 a month on the annual plan. A 7-day money back guarantee covers all new members.
Private Internet Access (PIA) gives users a few different options. Unlike in the past, you no longer have to set up a profile for each VPN server. Now, you can connect to any of their server locations in 28 countries. As you can see below, the PIA team has organized their servers by region, country, and city. The server locations are listed in alphabetical order by country. Once you select a location, you can connect easily to locations in the United States.
|30||47||3282||OpenVPN, PPTP, L2TP||$6.45||$59.95||7 day|
There are a lot of torrent users who love Private Internet Access. The service includes a feature that will stop your system from communicating if the connection to their service drops. Meaning if your encrypted VPN access is dropped for any reason it will keep you safe.
We use PIA’s Windows client and there isn’t much to it in terms of set up and usage. However, you won’t want to underestimate the service. PIA offers different levels of privacy protection depending on your needs. You can control encryption levels and find the right balance between privacy and speed. As you can see below, the PIA network is quite fast in key locations around the United States.
When it comes to their Windows client the PIA team has included an Internet kill switch. The kill switch will kill your Internet connection anytime the VPN fails. That can really come in handy for those wanting to ensure anonymity in various cities in the US. Private Internet Access offers VPN from just $2.50 a month.
