The iPod Touch is a personal entertainment device. Though it is similar to a Smartphone, it differs in a few ways. It is often referred to as the Smartphone without the phone. Surprisingly, Apple has kept the iPod Touch in line with the iPhone. It is by far the best selling iPod of all time, having sold over 100 million units in 5 years. The first generation was released months after the first iPhone, and the modern version continues to stay close in design and function at a cheaper price, about 1/3 of the cost. That gives many the ability to own an iOS device without the large costs.

There are several VoIP apps that do this job nicely. Skype and Viber are two of the most widely known ones, but there are others as well. As long as the person you are calling has the one you choose, you may call them by using WiFI instead of using a cellular plan. Those types of apps are usually free, and readily available on iTunes.
Given all of these features, if you are planning on accessing the internet, there are several good reasons to use a VPN. The first reason deals with the privacy aspect. By using one, you add a layer of encryption to web browsing, sending messages, or making calls by using VoIP. Otherwise, you leave yourself vulnerable to attackers. That is especially true if you ever use the free WiFi at your favorite restaurant.
