The origins of this championship date back to 1926, and it has been held fairly consistently since. Generally, these championships are held from in mid to late Summer, however during Olympic years, they are moved to a Spring Schedule. The Championships used to support 5 water sports, but in 1999, Water Polo was split into it’s own championship. In it’s current version, there are 4 sports held. Let’s take a look at them below.

  • Swimming (Long Course/50M Pool)
  • Diving
  • Synchronized Swimming
  • Open Water Swimming

The UK is favorited to win a number of medals in the championships. After their performance at the London Olympics in 2012, that should not come as a surprise. Clearly, the UK teams have brought a level of enthusiasm to the sport as well as the region. That enthusiasm is what impressed the president of FINA, the governing body over the events.

With Eurovision as their partner, broadcast coverage for this will have a massive viewership. You can bet that many of the world’s countries will have access. If you would like to take a look at the full schedule of events, that is located here.

Why would you need to use a VPN with all of this coverage?  One reason is to keep your private information secure and the second reason is despite all of those broadcast partners, live streaming of the events will not be available to all countries because of contractual reasons. It is difficult to get licenses for content around the world, especially for non Eropean countries.

However, by using a VPN, you could connect and watch the championships live online on your computer, tablet, or even smart phone. Since Eurovision is hosting the championships, the events will be available to stream for free. Access to Eurovision for these events will be geo-restricted outside of Europe, so a good VPN service will help you view blocked content. Geo-restriction is a way of tracking the user’s IP address, and restricting access based on location. luckily, we have some wonderful recommendations for VPN services.

Enjoy all the excitement during the 2016 European Aquatics Championships and watch to see if the UK will hold on to their dominance in the games, or if another country will prove their medal. Please share this post with your friends so they can enjoy the events from anywhere in the world with a VPN. Follow us @VPNFan for the latest deals and guides.
