The EuroLeague has only been in existence since 2000, but it replaced the FIBA EuroLeague that started in 1958. The change represents a re-branding and is now sponsored by Turkish Airlines. FIBA had their own league the first year called the SuproLeague, but they eventually integrated for the 2000-2001 season.

Though the quality has improved over the years, the EuroLeague is still known for taking players that are not ready for the NBA. That said, some players go to the US from Europe. The intensity is not as high, but it is still great basketball.

Much like football, the Real Madrid team has the most number of titles won through the years with 9. The team with the next highest number of championships is CSKA Moscow with 7. Maccabi Tel Aviv and Panathinaikos have the 3rd most titles with 6 a piece. Others include Varese with 5, Olympiacos, Olimpio Milano, ASK Riga, and Split with 3. Since the reigning champ is CKSA Moscow, it will be interesting to see if they can defend their title.

Let’s take a look at some of the broadcast partners that show the games.
