The CrossFit Games event is an American annual competition that takes place to determine the “Fittest on Earth”. Competitors are involved in various known and some surprise events so they need to be ready for anything. In 2022, the final games will be held from August 4 to August 7 in Madison, Wisconsin. The best way to stream live coverage of the final will be through CBS for those who have cable, or the Paramount+ streaming service. If you will be traveling outside the United States during the Crossfit Games, the best option is to watch through Paramount+ after connecting to a VPN server in the US.
How to Watch the Crossfit Games from Anywhere
Watch coverage on CBS and CBS Sports through the Paramount+ streaming service:
- Sign up for ExpressVPN (includes a 30 day risk-free money-back guarantee)
- Download and install the ExpressVPN app on your device
- Connect to a VPN server in the USA. ExpressVPN has servers throughout North America. We recommend New York City, Miami, or Los Angeles.
- Now you will want to visit Paramount+ to stream the Crossfit Games. They offer a 7 day free trial to all new members.
- Enjoy live streaming access to the competition.
For those that do not have access to CBS or CBS Sports, Paramount+ is the best way to watch the Crossfit Games.
Paramount+ is a popular American streaming service owned by ViacomCBS. If you have ever heard of CBS All Access, the Paramount+ streaming service replaced it. This was right in the middle of the pandemic when so many of us were stuck in our homes and happy to get access to as much streaming content as we could. Paramount+ includes all the best of CBS All Access along with new movies from Paramount Pictures. This makes the service even more valuable.
Activities that are typically included in the Crossfit Games are standard aerobic, weight lifting, and gymnastics movements. Surprise activities may be things like ocean swimming, softball throwing, ascending a pegboard or more. All of these events will help to determine the most fit in the different divisions.
Since the games’ establishment in 2007, there have been several controversies. The games are officially sponsored by Reebok and CrossFit so competitors were banned from wearing Nike footwear during the 2015 games. Nike answered the ban by parking several trucks near the main entrance of the arena. These trucks contained the slogan “Don’t ban our shoe, beat our shoe”. Nike’s Metcon shoes are also prohibited from using the term CrossFit to market them. This will be the first season that NoBull will be the primary sponsor.
Another interesting move by CrossFit was to award the winners of the 2016 games with handguns. That move drew wide criticism from members and sponsors. Protests caused the temporary closure of several locations in New York.
Participation and interest in these games have grown rapidly since the beginning. The prize money went from a $500 purse in each division the first year to $310k in 2022. You can only imagine those numbers will go up more. Also in 2022, there will be 175 countries represented by registered members. Categories have also increased to include 5 different age divisions for those participants 40 years of age and older.
Who will win this battle of fitness? You’ll have to tune in to find out.
