How to Watch Copa del Rey Live Online with a VPN

Copa del ReyMuch like many other countries, Spain has their own internal football championship called the Copa del Rey (The King’s Cup). It is the oldest Spanish football competition and was established more than 100 years ago in 1903. Also like other European countries, Covid-19 impacted the schedule. The season is scheduled to kick off on November 17, 2021 with the final match to be played on April 23, 2022. As you can see, the season is being compressed into six months. This year, the final will be played at Estadio de La Cartuja in Seville. Broadcast coverage for the season is limited, but more is available towards the end. If you are outside the coverage area, you would need a VPN.

DAZN – OTT service that gives you access to Copa del Ray and more without a cable or satellite subscription. The service requires it’s own subscription to watch. To sign up and access the matches, you need to be in Austria, Germany, Japan, or Switzerland. Make sure to connect to a VPN server in one of those countries before signing up.

Copa del Ray Highlights

The Copa Del Rey was founded in 1903 and has been going strong ever since. Unless you live under a rock, you probably know how strong the Spanish teams are. Teams like Barcelona, Real Madrid, and others have been powerhouses for years. Those factors make the Copa Del Rey fun to watch.

The tournament has not been without some problems. During the Spanish Civil War in 1937, clubs in the Republican area of Spain entered the Free Spain Cup. The Levante Club beat their city rivals, the team from Valencia, by a score of 1-0. The Spanish Congress urged the league to call it a Copa del Rey victory, but that matter is still undecided.

The most successful Spanish football club is Barcelona with 28 titles. Athletic Bilbao has 24. Real Madrid has also won its’ fair share of titles. During the history of the tournament, there have only been 12 actual trophies. Four trophies have been awarded to Barcelona, three to Bilbao, and one to Real Madrid. The criteria to win a permanent one is winning 3 times in a row or winning 5 times on separate occasions.
