Best VPNs for Wii U

Wii UThe Wii U is a Nintendo system that was first put out in 2012. This gaming system has been very popular for all the name brand title games. The Wii U is very dependent on the internet for social features and other apps you can get. With all the online games, apps, streaming services, and social media there must be a lot of lag, regional restrictions for certain games, and slow connections. To help I would recommend a VPN.  A VPN will allow you to switch your IP address to another IP. That will help get rid of lag and have faster connection times if you connect to a location near the game server. It will also allow you to get past geographical restrictions and decrease DDoS attacks for professional gamers.

The first introduction of the Wii U was not a success.  There were not many popular titles when the system was released which caused sales to lag. After a year or two however the Wii U started doing better as the system got more name brand games. It also got better as Nintendo improved on their GamePad and Wii U’s functions. Some functions include:

  • Playing certain games while someone is watching TV. You can also listen to the game through the GamePad.
  • Better motion controls
  • Ability to watch Youtube
  • Ability to Browse the internet
  • Using Mii verse to talk to friends and other fan groups
  • Playing Wii games
  • Using social media
  • Accessing Nintendo eShop
  • Using Mii Maker
  • Wii Chat
  • Using the GamePad to talk to friends inside certain games
  • Using streaming services like Netflix, Crunchyroll, and Amazon Prime
  • There are many more features as well

These functions helped it’s popularity.  The games also helped having popular titles like:

  • Super Smash Bros. Wii U
  • Mario Kart 8
  • Splatoon
  • New Super Mario Bros. Wii U
  • Super Mario 3D world
  • Pikmin 3
  • The Legend of Zelda Wind Waker HD
  • Hyrule Warriors
  • Lego Jurassic World
  • Mario Party 10
  • Super Luigi Bros. Wii U
  • And many more

DLCs and Amibo add additional features to some of the Wii U games. Amibo are new collectables that work in game. Here are a couple examples.  Super Smash Bros. Amibos will level up and memorize how you fight to make you better.  Splatoon Amibos will add on some more solo game play.  With Amibo being collectors items some might be harder to find.  DLCs are add-ons for popular games.  Some of the Nintendo Wii U’s most popular ones are for Smash Bros since the people voted for the character Ryu and are still voting on characters for future DLCs.

Other new things still to come include Mario Maker. Mario Maker is a special app that was made in celebration of the original Mario Bros. 30th year anniversary. The app will allow you to make your own custom map based on the original Super Mario Bros. This will be a very big thing for all fans who remember playing any version of the old Mario Bros. game.

If you have not already bought a Wii U then you will be happy to hear that you get a single GamePad, a stylus, the actual system, a sensor bar, HDMI cable, both the system and GamePad AC adapters, a systems stand, a GamePad stand, GamePad cradle, and perhaps even a Nintendo game depending on what version of the system you get. Also you will need to buy more controllers if you want to play the Wii U with friends. Make sure you don’t buy another GamePad because the Wii U will only take one at a time. Instead you can use Wii controllers and nunchuks on certain games, GameCube controllers with the GameCube adapter on some games, and other attachments for the Wii controller.

To recap, The Wii U might not have started off on the best foot, but it has grown into a good system over its three years. With name brand games, social features, and apps the Wii U has been getting better.  The GamePad is also very useful in the case that one person wants to watch TV. The GamePad will still let you play certain games or watch videos on it. The Wii U is a great system that I am sure you and your friends will like.

Once again I recommend using a VPN service to unblock geographic restrictions for online games and watch streaming media services in other countries. A VPN will give you an IP address from the server location you choose. This will allow you to access services like Netflix while on vacation outside the supported regions. It will improve performance and reduce lag. Elite gamers will also appreciate the added DDoS protection.
