The origins of the FIFA U-20 World Cup date back to 1977. Since then, the tournament is held every two years. Requirements for the tournament state that a player may be no more than 20 years old. Though the tournament covers many teams from around the world, only 36 teams have made it to the finals since the start. Of those teams, only 9 teams have won the tournament.
