Handball is a team sport consisting of 7 players on each side, including a goalie. The game has enjoyed wide popularity around Europe, and in 2022, the EHF European Handball Championship will be played in Hungary and Slovakia. Though there is evidence through history of this game being played, the first Olympic appearance was in the 1936 Olympics in Munich, Germany. The game has flourished and become widely popular, but it did not make another Olympic appearance until 1976. Since then, the game has been included in the Olympics. n 1991, the European Handball Federation was formed. Three years later, the first championship was held in Portugal. The tournament is hosted by different countries every two years, and is presented by the European Handball Federation. This year, Hungary and Slovakia will co-host the championship. Teams are organized in to 6 groups, and there are 4 teams per group. That type of structure is similar to the way the World Cup is organized.

- Group E (Bratislava) – Spain, Sweden, Czech Republic, Bosnia and Herzegovina
- Group F (Košice) – Norway, Russia, Slovakia, Lithuania

Other favorites are Norway, Germany, and Portugal. Of course, the great thing about a tournament is that any team can win.
