Australian Open History

Unlike the other major tennis tournaments, the Australian Open has not always been played in the same location. It has been staged in five different Australian cities and two cities in New Zealand. Since 1988, however, the Australian Open has been held at Melbourne Park. As far as the playing surface goes, the tournament is played on an acrylic-based hard court surface called Plexicushion.

The men’s returning champion, Roger Federer, is sure to be fired up after beating Marin Čilić in last year’s Australian Open. You really have to take a look at the competitors because the matches will likely go back and forth. Will Federer be able to win again like he did last year? We will have to wait and see.

Now that Serena is back, the question is will she be able to win the Open this year. Last year, that honor went to Caroline Wozniacki. There are several really good female players that we can enjoy watching, but no one is quite the machine Serena Williams is. Will she take it this year? You will just have to stay tuned to find out which way.

Don’t miss any of the 2023 Australian Open tennis tournament.  Please share this post with your friends so they can enjoy all four Grand Slam events this year with a VPN.
